A little update from me ❤️

If you’re currently waiting for a quote, update or reply from me, I promise I haven’t forgotten about you!

I’ve had an ocular migraine that has been coming and going all week. The frustrating thing is that I can feel absolutely fine, start catching up, and then the visual disturbances and spaced-out feeling suddenly return and I have to stop working, rest and sleep it off.

It’s meant I’ve fallen a little behind this week, so I’m slowly working my way through everything as and when I’m able to.

Thank you so much for your patience ❤️ If you’re waiting for something from me, you are still on my list. I’d much rather take a little longer and give your holiday the attention it deserves than rush it when I’m not feeling 100%.

Hopefully normal service will resume very soon! 🤞✈️🌍

✈️ A little look back at earlier this week…

Earlier this week I headed into Manchester for a fantastic Travel Gossip event, spending the evening meeting suppliers, catching up with others in the travel industry and picking up lots of useful information that I can bring back to my customers. 🌍

I’m a little behind sharing this one because it’s been a VERY busy week of enquiries and bookings, but I didn’t want to miss it!

One of the things I love about working in travel is that you never stop learning. Even after more than 20 years in the industry, there’s always a new route, hotel, destination or little nugget of information that makes you think, Oooh, I need to remember that! 😂

I spent the evening chatting with suppliers including Air India, Inside Travel Group, Flexible Autos, Solmar Villas, Ethiopian Airlines, Airlink, Mayor Hotels & Resorts, San Antonio Tourism and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

A few things that particularly caught my attention…

🇮🇳 Air India is going through a huge transformation, with a growing modern fleet and some really interesting options for travelling around India and beyond.

🇯🇵 Inside Travel Group are always a particularly interesting one for me because Japan continues to be hugely popular, especially for those more complex, tailor-made itineraries that I love putting together.

🇬🇷 We also talked Greece with Mayor Hotels & Resorts, including Corfu, which is one of the easiest Greek islands for us to reach from the UK. Often less than 3 hours flight!

✈️ Liverpool John Lennon Airport was a really interesting reminder that those of us in the North West don’t always have to automatically think Manchester Airport! Liverpool has grown its choice considerably and, for some journeys, you can even connect through Dublin for flights to the USA, with the added advantage of completing US immigration and customs formalities in Dublin before you arrive in America. 🇺🇸

🚗 And of course there was Flexible Autos, which explains all the little cars on the table in the photo! 😂 They also do RVs!

These events aren’t just a night out for me. They’re an opportunity to actually meet the people behind the companies I book with, ask questions, build relationships and keep my knowledge up to date.

Because when you’re trusting me with your holiday, I want to know far more than what I can find by simply putting your dates into a computer. ❤️🌍

And yes… there may have been foo, chocolate and sweets involved too. 😂🍬

✈️ What’s your pre-flight airport ritual?

Manchester Airport has just opened its first ever Wetherspoons in Terminal 2, and I LOVE the fact they’ve called it The Belle Vue! 🍻

Particularly because Belle Vue is where I’m from! 😂

For anyone who isn’t from Manchester, Belle Vue has quite a history. It was once home to the famous Belle Vue Zoological Gardens and became known as the “Showground of the World”, with its zoo, fairground, circus, concerts, speedway and greyhound racing. At its peak, millions of people visited. So it’s lovely to see a little nod to Manchester’s history at the airport. ❤️

The new pub has over 300 seats and they’ve even incorporated Belle Vue and Manchester’s sporting history into the décor.

But it got me thinking… what type of airport person are you? 😂

🍳 Full sit down breakfast, no matter what time your flight is?

🍺 Airport pint at 6am because “airport rules”?

☕ Coffee and something quick?

🥪 Meal deal and get to the gate?

🥂 Straight into the lounge?

Personally, I’m usually a Boots meal deal kind of person. There are too many different tastes in my family for us all to agree on one restaurant, so everyone choosing their own thing and that saves the arguments! 😂

Although I feel like I might have to visit The Belle Vue at least once, purely in the name of local pride!
