** Montenegro set to Close Citizenship Programme by December 31, 2021
On March 18th, 2021, the Government of Montenegro announced their Citizenship by Investment Programme will expire and will not be extended. The program usually has a three-year window but applications were accepted after the first year.
The Montenegro CIB program was launched to boost its economy through direct investment from affluent individuals who seek a 2nd passport thereby enjoying free access across other European countries.
Two routes to Monetegnero citizenship include;
€450,000 investment in a real estate investment in Podgorica, the country’s capital, or in the southern region or a €250,000 real estate investment in the north of the country. Real estate investments must be government-approved. A €100,000 Contribution must be made to the Government by the applicant in either option.
It recently joined NATO and is on its way to being part of the EU by 2025. According to Henley&Partners 2021 Global passport index, Montenegro currently ranks 47th with visa-free travel to 124 countries. If it becomes a member of the EU as planned, the visa-free access will increase significantly. This beautiful gem shares borders with Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia, and Herzegovina to the north and west, Kosovo to the east, Albania to the southeast, and the Adriatic Sea and Croatia to the southwest.
Individuals interested in this program are advised to start their applications as soon as possible to beat the deadline. Citizenship is granted in 6 months.
