Winter in Lapland isn’t just pretty pictures it’s a whole different pace of life.

Picture this: snow on the ground for up to 200 days, air so clean it feels like a reset button, and days that shift from deep polar blue to soft midwinter light. It’s cold (think –5°C to –25°C, sometimes colder!) but it’s the kind of cold that makes everything feel calm rather than harsh.

If you've noticed more of your friends banging on about villa holidays lately, you're not imagining it — this is genuinely one of the biggest shifts I'm seeing in travel right now.

Here's jus a few reasons why villas are stealing the spotlight in 2026:

1. It's about how the holiday feels, not just where it is
People aren't just picking a destination anymore they want mornings that unfold at their own pace, meals around a table that's theirs for the week, and zero rush to fit into a hotel's schedule. Guests are increasingly prioritising comfort, convenience and a sense of emotional connection, focusing on how a holiday feels from day to day rather than simply ticking off destinations.

2.Privacy is the new luxury
