The Maldives… in Crete?💙

Stella Island is one of those places that stops people scrolling, and I get why. A lagoon pool winds right through the resort, there are swim-up rooms where you step off your terrace straight into the water, and the overwater bungalows feel more Indian Ocean than Mediterranean. You get all of that with a flight under four hours from the UK.

It’s adults-only, so it’s calm, romantic and made for couples. It’s perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, or just a well-earned week where nobody needs you for anything 🥂

A few things I love about it:

•Floating breakfast in your own pool (yes, really)

•Five restaurants, including Oceania at the top of the resort, which is the one to book for sunset

•All-inclusive available, so you can switch off completely

•An easy walk to the beach, with Hersonissos and Heraklion close by if you want to explore

2027 offers are live now and the best rooms go first, especially swim-ups and villas for May–September. If you’ve had this one saved for a while, now’s the time.

Some people ask me what I actually do as a Travel Counsellor.

Honestly? Almost anything you can dream up.

A plunge pool hidden in the palms. A seaplane over the Maldives. A hot air balloon at sunrise. A desert dune with only your footprints on it.

The magic isn’t any one trip. It’s what happens when you combine a real person who listens with the access and supplier relationships to make it happen. The possibilities are spectacular.

Okay, I need to talk about the little cars at Ikos Kissamos

Most all-inclusives stop at the gates of the resort. Ikos doesn’t. Every guest can book an electric MINI Countryman for a full day, completely complimentary, to go off and explore western Crete at their own pace.

Think about that for a second. A morning wandering the old town in Chania, lunch somewhere with a sea view, a swim at a beach you’d never have found from a sunbed, then back to the resort for dinner. No hire car desk, no fuel, no faff.

And it’s not the only thing that sets it apart:

Ikos Dine Out: complimentary meals at hand-picked local restaurants, so you taste real Crete beyond the resort
Cultural site passes included for the area

Not your obvious holiday choice, and that’s exactly why I love it.

The Galápagos is one of the few places on earth where wildlife genuinely isn’t scared of you. Swim with sea lions, snorkel alongside turtles, and watch blue-footed bo***es in action.

It’s small groups, expert naturalist guides and nothing mass-market. It takes some planning (island-hopping vs a cruise, best time to go, flights), and that’s where I come in.

“This Isn’t Just a Train, It’s an Experience”

The Rocky Mountaineer. It’s the one that sits on almost everyone’s bucket list, and honestly, it deserves to. Picture glass domed carriages, the Canadian Rockies rolling past your window, and a glass of fizz in hand while you glide through scenery that most people only ever see in photos. Highlights, the Banff to Vancouver route through Kamloops, waking up to mountain mist, eagles overhead, and those turquoise glacier fed lakes you just can’t believe are real. It’s not just a train journey, it’s a slow, luxurious way to actually feel a landscape rather than rush past it.

And here’s the thing, train travel doesn’t have to mean a big bucket list trip.
