Many of you will know that I’m a proud specialist, having been to this pearl of the Indian Ocean multiple times over the years. It’s a country that’s had a really tough time, but those who visit are richly rewarded by one of the most special islands on the planet, with beautifully warm people, stunning scenery, culture galore and of course delicious cuisine.

My favourite property on the whole island is the beautiful by . Deep in the countryside in the lush heartland, there’s such a sense of magic here. Indescribable. A place you have to just experience.

So I am thrilled to announce the opening of Uga’s new baby; Uga Prāva, opening in May. Nestled on the beautiful southern coastline at Tangalle, Uga Prāva will offer a perfect blend of luxury, comfort and sustainable hospitality.

More contemporary in style than other Uga properties, Prāva features seven beautifully designed suites, within a private villa setting. The coastline is rugged, but a short walk from a beautiful beach cove, and the hotel swimming pool is huge.

I will always include Tangalle as a beach stop on my clients’ itineraries as I just love this part of the south, with its sleepy little towns, fringed by lush palms and caramel coves. True tropical bliss 💛

Still coming down from the most gorgeous weekend with my dear friends in Athens at for the European Leisure Insider 2025 event. Just wow. I learnt so much about the hotel, the destination and also so many other Four Seasons properties, and made lots of new friends and contacts over my time there.

A huge thank you to & for the kind invite, and to you and all of your amazing hoteliers for the best time with you in your Greek haven 🙏🏻❤️ It was so hard coming home!

The White Lotus effect…🇹🇭💙

With everyone going gaga once again for the return of Mike White’s razor-sharp travel comedy series, I thought I’d share where it was all shot in Thailand. All at hotels I am very proud to be a preferred partner of of course, and all properties I’ve stayed at personally and know very well ☺️

* The Four Seasons, Koh Samui; the majority of the filming was done here, in partnership with this illustrious brand. Come (December - April) for one of the best beaches in Asia, amazing pool villas and some of the best service in the country.

* Anantara Mai Khao, Phuket; the location of all of the spa / wellness scenes and the dramatic final. Located on the west coast, this gorgeous resort is super lush, with a fantastic spa & some of the best dining on the island

* Rosewood, Phuket; those lovely atmospheric dinner scenes from episode one? Well that would be Ta Khai at the cool, calm and collected Rosewood. I stayed here a while back and loved it. Great for design mavens and the spa is to die for

* Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok; some fabulous yet to be broadcasted scenes were filmed at this hotel legend. The first hotel in Bangkok, and still to this day iconic. Come for that famed Mandarin Oriental service, and an unbeatable riverside location

You’d struggle to find a resort in with more genuine soul than here ❤️. Having stayed for a few days myself a while back, I adored how real this place felt. Welcome to Borgo Pignano in Volterra, Tuscany - an elegant historical country estate in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, just a short drive from the historic hill towns of Volterra and San Gimignano.

The hotel rooms & suites are lovely of course, but what I wanted to show you today is their new selection of gorgeous standalone villas. These are PERFECT for families for a 2025 Italian escape. 📣 N E W S 📣 // F O U R • S E A S O N S • MYKONOS

Exciting news today as I’ve just heard from my friends that next summer will see the debut of their new resort.

Located in Kalo Livadi Bay (just next to Elia), it will offer 94 rooms, suites and villas, with gorgeous ocean and cliff views. Designed to honour the local architecture and style, it will feature white cubic architecture with whitewashed courtyards, traditional pathways and picturesque piazzas.

There’s also going to be an al fresco pool-side Italian venue, a modern interpretation of a Mykonian kafeneio, and a “beach experience” which is promising, as few hotels on Mykonos offer this, so this could be quite unique for a hotel of this size.

🧳 E X P E R I E N C E • C O U N T S 🧳

What’s the old saying? If you talk the talk, you have to walk the walk? Or in my case, have suitcase, will travel. It’s utterly essential for me. I travel so that when I say that I know what I’m talking about, you know you can trust me.

I’ve been lucky in my 43 years to have seen so much, in so many varied countries around the world. From New Zealand to Big Sur, Sri Lanka to Fiji, Italy to Cambodia, I’ve really clocked up some miles. And boy am I grateful for that.

The son of a man who travelled all over the globe, I guess I got bit by the bug young. Thanks Dad. I still treasure his postcards to me from all of his trips. They were my earliest taste of wanderlust. Which remains unabated to this day. So where’s next?!

Many of you know I’m a South East Asia specialist above all else, but there are so many other places that I’m passionate about sharing with you as Eight Roads clients, and booking your own special trips to.
