Whatโ€™s better than a โ€˜normalโ€™ family holiday?

One where the waterparks are so good, youโ€™ll struggle to get the kids out of the pool!

Some of the most incredible slides, splash zones, and lazy rivers weโ€™ve ever seen are waiting for you. Whether itโ€™s tropical vibes or something closer to home, these waterparks will have the whole family buzzing with excitement.

05/06/2026

If youโ€™re looking for a holiday where the kids are entertained non-stop, we have some suggestions which are a game-changer!

Trust us, youโ€™ll have a hard time getting them to leave (which means more time for you to relax)!

Ever come home from a holiday feeling like you barely scratched the surface?
Thatโ€™s exactly why touring has become one of the favourite ways for people to holiday. it turns a trip into a real experience, not just a getaway.

Touring lets you see a destination in a deeper, more meaningful way. And the best part is, there isnโ€™t just one way to do it. Some people love slow and scenic, others want culture packed days, and some prefer comfort all the way. Itโ€™s all about finding the style that fits you.

Thatโ€™s where I come in.
I help match you to the right kind of tour, the pace, comfort level, and experience that suits how you actually like to travel. I sift through all the options (so you donโ€™t have to) and narrow it down to the ones that genuinely make sense for you. This saves you so much time and stress.

The result?
Less guesswork.
More confidence.
And a tour that feels like it was designed just for you.

If youโ€™re curious about touring or wondering which style might suit you, pop me a message or comment below. Iโ€™d love to help you find your perfect match.

Seattle is nicknamed the Emerald City thanks to its year-round evergreen forests and, occasionally, the impressive ability of locals to continue wearing shorts in drizzle. Our friend Larry would be well away here. Sue Redmond

The city is home to the iconic Space Needle, built for the 1962 Worldโ€™s Fair and standing 605 feet tall. The last time Dave and I went up, we ate in the revolving restaurant, which felt wonderfully futuristic at the time. Sadly, the restaurant closed in 2017 ๐Ÿฅฒ Apparently spinning tourists while serving dinner is no longer essential to modern civilisation.

Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operating public farmers markets in the United States and is famous for its fish throwing. We did, in fact, witness this highly entertaining spectacle ๐ŸŸ โ€ฆ.. essentially airborne seafood with an audience. One morning we had breakfast overlooking the water, watching the ferries glide across to the nearby islands. Very peacefulโ€ฆ apart from the occasional flying salmon.

Coffee culture is enormous here. Starbucks opened its first store near Pike Place Market in 1971, and the queues were still absolutely massiveโ€ฆ proof that tourists will happily queue for caffeine and a photo opportunity in equal measure.

Seattle also has a strong aviation history thanks to Boeing, founded here in 1916. Today we visited The Museum of Flight, which was excellent, genuinely one of the best laid out museums weโ€™ve visited. Naturally, the boys loved it, but for me it brought back memories of my flying days with British Airways. There was Concorde, several Boeing 747s, and even a history of flight attendant uniforms โœˆ๏ธ A lovely trip down memory laneโ€ฆ although thankfully nobody asked me to demonstrate the safety procedures.

Our first cruise with Virgin Voyages took us from Vancouver, BC to Alaska, finishing in Seattleโ€ฆ and honestly, it completely exceeded expectations.

The food and service were probably the best weโ€™ve ever experienced , and trust me, we gave both a very thorough inspection! (Dave certainly inspected the bars !!) ๐Ÿธ

We sailed on the beautiful Brilliant Lady, and she certainly lived up to her name. Think boutique hotel vibes at sea: stylish interiors, smart cabins, mood lighting, modern technology, and plenty of little luxury touches throughout.

Virgin Voyages is completely different from a traditional cruise experience, and one of the biggest stand out features is that itโ€™s adults only (18+). No kids, no chaos, no fighting over pool loungers at 6am! ( although that wouldnโ€™t have happened on any Alaska cruise ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ) If that sounds appealing, I genuinely canโ€™t recommend them enough.

The whole experience felt relaxed and effortless. We barely queued for anything, restaurants and bars were easy to access, and the atmosphere onboard was calm, fun, and social all at the same time.

Now weโ€™re off to enjoy our final two days exploring Seattle before heading home.

If you think this style of cruise might suit you, feel free to get in touch for a chat. My time is completely free, and Iโ€™d be happy to talk through all the options with you.

The moment we stepped off the ship, we all felt this strange sense of calm and warmth, hard to explain really, but it just felt right. It had such a lovely relaxed, small town atmosphere that instantly made us slow down and take it all in.

Icy Strait Point is rich in Alaska Native Tlingit culture and local history, and the scenery was just stunning, forests, mountains, and endless ocean views everywhere you looked.

Wildlife wise, we spotted a few sea lions, another whale, and a huge bald eagle nest. Bears are apparently around too, although we made sure to stick closely to our โ€œBe Bear Awareโ€ guidance ๐Ÿ˜‚

That said, if one of those giant furry beasts had actually appeared, there is absolutely no chance Iโ€™d have stood there calmly with my arms outstretched making myself look bigger. Iโ€™d have been halfway back to the ship screaming and very likely served as the evening special. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

There are two connected gondola systems here:

The first, the Transporter Gondola, takes people from the cruise ships up to the adventure area and shops.

Then thereโ€™s the Wilderness Landing Gondola, which climbs even higher for incredible panoramic views ( although it was a bit cloudy today, nevertheless there were moments you could see the amazing views)โ€ฆโ€ฆand flights of beer ๐Ÿ˜‚ Honestly, I needed one after that ride. Itโ€™s very steep and very high. At one point I was completely frozen to the spot, which was not helped by my son deciding it would be hilarious to try rocking the cabin ๐Ÿ™„

The gondola is also part of Hoonahโ€™s bigger tourism story. The local Alaska Native owned corporation developed it to help bring cruise revenue directly into the community while still protecting the beautiful natural landscape. Basically: โ€œWelcome to Alaskaโ€ฆ please enjoy responsibly and donโ€™t flatten the mountain.โ€

I genuinely think this ended up being one of my favourite places โค๏ธ

Juneau is the capital of Alaska, although itโ€™s not actually the biggest city in the state, Anchorage is much larger.

One thing I found really interesting is that you canโ€™t actually drive to Juneau from the rest of North America. No roads lead there, so most people arrive by plane or ferry.

Itโ€™s also one of the largest cities by area in the whole of the U.S., bigger than some actual states!

And the rainโ€ฆ wow. Juneau gets a LOT of rain and donโ€™t we know it, we got absolutely soaked today ๐Ÿ˜‚

Juneau is apparently one of the best places in the U.S. for whale watching, especially humpback whales. We were originally booked on a whale watching tour but couldnโ€™t get an early enough tender, so had to cancel. Looking back, it was probably a blessing in disguise because sitting on a boat for 3 hours in pouring rain isnโ€™t really my idea of funโ€ฆ even for majestic whales ๐Ÿ‹

Because of the rain, we decided to escape into a saloon called Red Dog Saloon, which had been recommended by my cousinโ€™s husband Dean , and it definitely did not disappoint.

What a fab place! Sawdust all over the floor (and I mean LOTS of it), food served in baskets, and bartenders and staff dressed in old fashioned period costumes. The walls were covered with mining memorabilia, antiques, huge stuffed animals and quirky signs everywhere you looked. It honestly felt like stepping into the Wild West ๐Ÿค

Their signature drink is called a โ€œDuck Fartโ€, made with Kahlua, Baileys and Crown Royal whisky. But apparently there are rulesโ€ฆ you canโ€™t sip it, stir it or share it. You have to shout โ€œQUACK QUACK!โ€ and down it in one ๐Ÿ˜‚

We also have video proof of Dave doing exactly thatโ€ฆ and Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll be thrilled I mentioned it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
And even more thrilled when I share it ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜‚
