Throwback Thursday – Corfu, Greece
There has been quite a bit in the press recently about potential delays at European borders this summer, particularly around the new EES system.
Greece has announced it will suspend the introduction over the peak summer period, which should help keep things running more smoothly.
It is a good reminder that, despite the headlines, places like Greece remain one of the easiest and most enjoyable options for a family holiday.
I have always loved Greece. Many of my childhood holidays were spent sailing around the Ionian islands, and it is a destination we keep going back to.
This particular trip was to Ikos Dassia in Corfu, which is a great example of how you can combine a relaxed, all-inclusive stay with the chance to explore a bit more of the island.
Corfu itself is a lovely place to spend time. The old town is beautiful, with narrow streets, pastel buildings and plenty of places to stop for food. There are also some great beaches and quieter corners if you venture a little further.
One of the things Ikos does particularly well is making it easy to get out and explore. You can take a car for the day, and they will even pack a picnic for you, which makes it feel very relaxed rather than something you have to organise.
Back at the hotel, everything is taken care of, which works especially well when travelling with children.
For families looking for something straightforward, but still special, Greece is still very hard to beat.🐧✈
