We've been talking about which European Christmas markets we'd actually choose for ourselves, and there are a couple that really stand out.

Budapest would be a strong contender for us. We've visited before, although not at Christmas, and it's a city we'd love to go back to. We think it's a great choice if, like us, you enjoy getting out and exploring a city rather than spending the whole trip in one place. Add in the Christmas markets and we reckon it would make a lovely few days away.

Strasbourg is another one we'd love to experience. Neither of us has been to its Christmas markets, but if we were planning a trip specifically for that traditional festive atmosphere, it's somewhere we'd be seriously considering.

And that's the thing with Christmas market breaks. Some people want to spend their days wandering around the stalls, while others want a proper city break with a bit of Christmas thrown in. We'd always want to know which sounds more like you before recommending somewhere.

We know winter 2028 sounds a long way off, but if you're thinking about a cruise, this is definitely worth a look!

P&O Cruises have just opened pre-registration for their Winter 2028/29 programme, with sailings from October 2028 right through to March 2029.

Two options that really catch our eye are the Caribbean fly-cruises and the Northern Lights cruises.

For anyone who loves a bit of winter sunshine, a Caribbean cruise could be a brilliant way to escape the British winter and explore several destinations in one holiday. Planning a Far East trip is rarely about choosing just one place. The fun part is working out which combination of places gives you the holiday you actually want.

It’s also an area of the world we know particularly well. Between us, we’ve personally travelled to Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia, so when we’re talking through different options with clients, we can bring some of that first-hand experience into the planning too.

For a first trip, we really like the Bangkok → Chiang Mai → Khao Lak route. Two weeks gives you three very different stops and, having travelled in Thailand ourselves, we think it’s a great way to experience more of the country rather than simply flying in and heading straight to a beach resort.

We also love the idea of Singapore → Thailand → Japan for someone wanting a bigger trip. We’ve experienced all three ourselves, and combining them into one itinerary gives you three very different destinations in one holiday.

This is a pretty big one if you’re already thinking ahead to 2028…

Jet2holidays have just launched Summer 2028, which means you can now start looking at holidays right through to October 2028.

But the bit that really caught our attention is this:
For a limited time, qualifying Jet2holidays can be booked with NO DEPOSIT when you set up a Direct Debit.

The offer applies to qualifying holidays travelling between 1 May 2027 and 31 October 2028, and is available to book from 7 October to 1 November 2026.

November is one of those months we think is often overlooked for travel. It can be a great excuse to escape the grey days at home, but the right destination really depends on what you want from the trip.

Japan would be high on our list. Dani travelled there last year and it’s a destination we’ve become even more enthusiastic about since experiencing it first-hand. It’s somewhere we’d happily recommend to clients who want a holiday that’s about exploring and experiencing somewhere completely different.

Then there’s Australia, which will always be a special one for us — it’s where Simon and Dani first met. So perhaps we’re slightly biased, but if you’re thinking about a bigger trip rather than a week away, it’s definitely worth considering.
