One of Jaipur’s most fascinating places and a brilliant example of how architecture, maths and astronomy can come together.

Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, these huge geometric structures were designed to measure time and track the movement of the sun, stars and planets.

Astronomy and astrology have always had an important place in Indian culture, influencing calendars, festivals and daily life. It’s pretty amazing to see that history expressed through such bold and beautiful architecture.

Amer Fort - a glimpse of life in a Maharaja’s court!

Exciting start to the day - we didn’t see a tiger, but perhaps a tiger saw us!

At this time of year the park is beautifully green, in full foliage and long grass… tigers were seen on the cameras this morning and fresh foot prints were just ahead of us. We did hear monkeys making warning calls and a leopard just hear us with its prey and the birding was wonderful!

The guide and driver were very knowledgeable and there isn’t the radio communication that has jeeps all converging on each other in some other safari destinations which makes for a lovely relaxing experience.

Here are my top tips for landing in India 🇮🇳 🐘
(in fact most of this applies to all countries!)

✈️ Turn on your eSIM if using one
✈️ Follow signs for evisa (it’s the last desks!)
✈️ Connect to airport WiFi if you spot a QR code
✈️ Have printouts of your arrival forms and visa
✈️ Hand over these with your boarding pass
✈️ Currency rates are better off airport
✈️ Airport ATMs give a max of 10k Rupees and give you the option to select small notes!

It’s a really smooth process, we arrived on an overnight flight and is was quiet at 8am
