Fancy mountain views without the mountain climb? The Mawddach Trail is a beautiful, mostly level route through woodland and along the glistening Mawddach Estuary, with mudflats, mountain backdrops and golden sunset views along the way. 🌿

There’s history beneath your feet too: the trail follows the former Cambrian Railways route between Dolgellau and Barmouth, leading towards the famous Barmouth Bridge and its historic railway connection.

The full trail is commonly described as around 9 miles (14.5 km) one way, but distances and conditions are route-dependent. Check current access, tides and surface conditions before setting off, especially near the estuary.

Stay at Rhiw Goch Inn’s holiday lets or campsite and make it your base for exploring Eryri (Snowdonia). With Coed y Brenin practically next door for a more adventurous day, you can choose your pace: gentle wander or muddy grin! 🥾
