Mary, Jitters and Hives have just returned from a pleasing couple of days enjoying historic Canterbury and the Pilgrim's Way, where Archbishop Thomas Becket was finished off in 1170, rumoured by order of King Henry II.
As well as following the charming route on foot from Chilham, where they saw the sarcophagus of St Augustine, they also partook of a thorough investigation of Canterbury itself, celebrated by Geoffrey Chaucer, of course, and also the resting place of Sir Thomas More's head, chopped off by...you guessed it...King Henry VIII.
It seemed only fitting to sample a few hostelries which were most agreeable and to experience a to further explore the intriguing city! Then homeward...Jitters driving the chaise and four and Hives seeing to the refreshments. Mary is exhausted and has taken to her bed to recuperate. Let us hope she is sufficiently restored in time for her next Marlow town tour on 8th May! 😃🎩
