Cottage all clean and tidy ready for the next guest. It has been a very busy summer and we have bookings through September too. New hob and oven looking good, thinking about a replacement fridge next.

First night in Quarry Green for what feels like ages. Despite being the middle of summer I lit the stove and enjoyed some real me time last night. We have been very busy this year - our best yet, and our last guests left a great review.

Oops. Just finished off the spring cleaning and installed a new oven and hob, then turned the wrong dial to heat up the oven and burnt a lap tray sitting on the hob....polystyrene balls get everywhere!

Well, although there appears no respite in sight for the poor people who are flooded out elsewhere, here we have had a very reasonable winter, no prolonged periods of anything bad in the way of the weather. It is good to see the days lengthening now, and it is beginning to feel like spring is, if not just round the corner, not too far away. We are both concentrating on doing up our home in Cumbria right now, as we plan to sell it soon, so have not been able to visit Quarry Green as much as we would like to. Looking forward to going this weekend and chilling out!

Just thinking it has been a slow summer this year - not that I mind, more time for us to spend relaxing in the borders - when I have taken 3 bookings in the last week.

Glorious morning here. Another 2 satisfied guests left great reviews in our guest book, really makes my day! Garden needs a bit of tidying now that 'summer' is almost here, and I need to get a chimney sweep pronto.
