Whether you are a Dickens fan, a Muppets Christmas Carol fan, studying A Christmas Carol for GCSE or just want something different to do in London, we guarantee you will enjoy learning about the place that Dickens called home in Victorian London.

Leadenhall market, the perfect end to our Dickens at Christmas tour.

Dating back to 1321, this former poultry and meat market, sits over the remains of Roman forum and basilica. This beautiful building now houses a number of shops, eateries and pubs. So why not treat yourself at the end of our walk.

Six weeks. One Christmas classic. And a story that refuses to disappear.

In 1843, Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in just six weeks. Published on 19 December that year, its first edition of 6,000 copies had sold out by Christmas Eve.

Not bad for a book that began life as a story about poverty, generosity and the treatment of those less fortunate.

But perhaps what makes Dickens so fascinating is that his London wasn't simply a backdrop to his stories. Its streets, its people and its contrasts helped shape the world he wrote about.

And when you walk through some of London's older streets today, it's not difficult to imagine the atmosphere that inspired him.

Nearly 200 years later, we're still telling his stories.

Perhaps that's the magic of London. Some of its best stories never really grow old.

Ok. So August is too early to tell you we are already getting bookings for our Dickens at Christmas walk?

So we will wait to talk about how you can join us in December and get into the spirit of Christmas, stepping back to take a look at London as Charles Dickens would have seen it 150 years ago. J

We wont ask you to join us as we visit the places that featured in Dickens’ life and work and inspired him to create characters as dark, as joyous and as complex as Scrooge, Jacob Marley, the Cratchit family.
