Recap of my first day on Star Pride

Today is a very exciting day as I'm off on a short three night cruise. But not just any cruise.

I am being hosted by Windstar Cruise line on a trip to experience one of their ships, the Star Pride, and the service that they offer onboard.

Windstar is a luxury cruise line whose small ship yacht-style cruises take you far beyond the expected — through scenic canals other cruises can't access, in harbors exclusive to yachts, across Old Towns in the most historic cities and beyond. Each all-suite yachts serves between 148 and 342 guests (our ship is 312). This intimacy provides you with the luxuries of time, space and freedom to immerse yourself in both the journey and the destination — in ways you may never have imagined possible.

We will be sailing out of London and visiting Bruges and Antwerp. One of the joys of small ship cruising is the ports. If you do a regular ocean cruise and it says 'London' it usually means Southampton or Dover. the closest port that these ships may use is Tilbury in Essex. But today we really are sailing out of London.

We are boarding from the Tower Millennium pier near the Tower of London. So at 16:45 this afternoon Tower Bridge is scheduled to lift so we can sail out of it. I make no secret of the fact that I love London, so I am very excited about this.
