If you're after a shady stroll then the riverside path at Sedgwick - near the caravan site - is just perfect.

📅 Born on this day in 1761 in East Lothian, Scottish engineer John Rennie. 🎂

With a particular interest in the construction of canals, docks & bridges, one of Rennie's first major projects was the construction of Lancaster Canal and the impressive Lune Aqueduct. The Aqueduct is considered to be a masterpiece of civil engineering. The 664 foot long structure was designed to carry the Lancaster Canal 53 feet over the River Lune.🏗

Rennie passed away on 4th October 1821, leaving a legacy of work across the British Isles. He is buried in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral, having made London his home in 1791. 🏰
