This is the latest update from Ocean Edge regarding the fire situation.
We are still renting out our van but obviously without the park facilities.
Any further updates we will post on this page. Thank you 👍
UPDATE FROM DAN
I wanted to reach out to you personally to give you an update on what’s happening at Ocean Edge.
I know some of our owners have felt a little in the dark in relation to what’s happening, and, in all honesty, we haven’t provided an update because there hasn’t been more to let you know further than what was sent out earlier in September but I appreciate regular updates, even if they are to say the situation is similar, would be welcomed.
We’ve had some clarity around the damage done to the facilities during the fire. Since September 1st when the fire happened, we have been following procedures to assess the damage. While this seems straight forward, it has taken multiple people and organisations, both at Parkdean Resorts and externally, to complete the full assessment. We had that final report back late yesterday and they have confirmed that the best way forward would be to close the facilities for the season.
I’m absolutely gutted and I know you all will be too. But I’m also relieved that we now have some clarity around the situation because it’s been a loooong September.
If you have any private guests booked, I wouldn’t recommend these go ahead but they of course can. Please just make your guests aware that the facilities will be closed, and services may experience down time, but we will endeavour to get any issues dealt with as soon as possible.
The initial plans suggests the facilities will be closed until the end of the season and I’ll keep you updated about status as we move through off-season. While it’ll be a tough few months, I’m actually excited about the opportunities the fire will bring us to enhance the park as we put together rebuild plans and I’m really looking forward to being able to take you on that journey as well.
I know you love the park just as much as I do, so I’m going to be writing to you each week to let you know what’s been happening and what we’re putting in place for you while the facilities are being repaired.
I also wanted to give you an update on our owner events. We let you know earlier in September that we have had to cancel the owner events we had scheduled (and were really looking forward to) because of the damage. However, I’ve been working with our park team to make some plans that utilise the safe spaces we do have on park so we can still bring you some entertainment while you’re enjoying your break away at your holiday home. I know last weekend’s event was sent out at short notice so I apologise this one is as well, but I’ve also included the following weekend’s plan, too, which will hopefully give you some more time to plan and, if you can make it this weekend, it’d be great to see you.
With that in mind, here’s what we have to look forward to this weekend (and next) if you can make it:
Saturday 28th September, 12pm-4pm, we have some live music booked which you can enjoy alongside some delicious chilli and nachos with some arts and crafts for the little ones.
Sunday 29th September, 10am-1pm, we’re serving up some bumper breakfast pancakes with games and arts and crafts for you and your family to enjoy before the new week begins.
Saturday 5th October, 12pm-4pm, we’re putting on some sports activities with live music and will be serving up some hearty jacket potatoes to fill the gap all that exercise will have made!
Sunday 6th October, 10am-1pm, come and grab a breakfast buttie while the little ones get creative with some arts and crafts. We’re also putting on a free owner’s raffle so you might walk away with some prizes, too.
There’s no need to book, just come along to the Holiday Home Showground (our temporary reception opposite the main one) where we’ll be set up.
I know this has been a long update but finally, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the support you’ve shown both me and the teams on park; it really is so appreciated and I’m thankful for such a supportive group of owners.
Hoping to see you at the weekend,
Dan
