Very pleased with this first run of handplanes...all crafted from offcuts, and hand shaped from flat pieces.

These are super fun to make, and less of a daunting & time consuming project as a full surfboard.

Yet to actually try one in the surf, but I'm sure these will be the first of many more hand planes ✋🏼🌊

Thanks to the legend for the beautiful pics. We were blessed with a cracker of a sunset!

A wee series of handshaped handplanes almost complete!
Bit of an experiment with various glue up, shaping techniques, and waxoil, but already looking forward to the next batch.

A perfect way to use up off cuts, and they are a quick & easy little project compared to a full board build - so expect more of these for sure 🙌🏻

These are a mix of Paulownia, Cedar, Douglas, Oak, and tropical hardwood offcuts & scraps 🌲🌳

Flying Fish going right in Indo 🐟🌊

HT's served excitement, nerves, and awe – a true test for both my skills and this board! 🔥 Left feeling very humbled.

While I'm not sure this board is quite right for hollow powerful barrels - I'm already looking forward to giving it another crack back home in Scotland this winter!

Disclaimer - unfortunately didn't get a tube after this shot 😢 It was a session full of barrel dodges! 😂

This one was a little distraction from the planned demo range, but the size and shape felt perfect for an upcoming trip to Indo, so I decided to get to work and smash out this little number in only a few weeks. The fasted build so far!!

🌲Materials: 6mm Poplar Ply skeleton, 5mm Spanish Paulownia skin + Scottish Cedar mid-line
🔨 Construction: Hollow. 4oz H**p internal deck + 4/4oz glass external lamination. Glassed with Resin Research Bio Epoxy .research
🌊 Bottom contours: Flat through middle, to a slight double concave through the fins
🔱 Fins: Futures Thruster
⚖️ Weight (excluding fins & wax): 5.1 kg
🪚Shaped by: Caorann Fosbrooke

This is also available to demo and try anytime, and adds a little more performance to the demo fleet! Its already tried and tested in some world class Indo waves, and it felt great!

This makes the first pair of completed demos, and a Retro Fish in both Paulownia and Cedar to try & compare. First surf and reflection coming soon!!
