Very sorry to hear of Robbie Coltrane's passing.

Born Anthony Robert McMillan, in Rutherglen, he took his stage name in tribute to one of his heroes, American Jazz saxophonist John Coltrane.

I was once nearly arrested for riding down West George Street while standing on the runningboard of one of his vintage cars (drink had been taken!).

When the motorcycle cop who pulled us over saw who was driving, he said: 'Christ, I might have known...'
