👏🙌 Big shout out to John and Barbara Lower 👏🙌
This photo shows John and Barbara Lower donating their narrowboat 'Madeley Wood' to the charity 'Forces Veterans Afloat'.
After 45 years of Narrowboat ownership, John & Barbara decided to part company with their beloved Narrowboat 'Madeley Wood'.
They generously donated the boat to the Charity whose mission is to help homeless Veterans get off the streets and into accommodation on the water.
After a final holiday to Llangollen in July, John and Barbara navigated the recent closures and delivered the boat to Sawley where the charity is based. They are pleased to report that 'Madeley Wood' has now moved to Gunthorpe Marina on the River Trent and has become a safe haven for a homless ex-serviceman.
The Charity is very new and was only recently granted Charity Number 1211509 in December 2024. Like many charities, money is tight and they rely on donations not only of money, but of goods and services to continue what they passionateley believe is vital work.
