Back in October 1987 as a young trainee I went on my first educational trip to Turkey 🇹🇷 I’d been in travel for 5 months and wasn’t sure what to expect. The trip was hosted by Lancaster Holidays ( anyone remember them? ) and we visited Icmeler and Marmaris.
Fastrack 39 years and we returned from a short holiday last week staying in Icmeler. If I’m honest I didn’t recognise anything from the educational trip as both Icmeler and Marmaris are now very well established holiday resorts.
I can truly say that Icmeler in particular really exceeded my expectations. We found the locals friendly ( no hassle) a great selection of restaurants with good food ( we were spoilt for choice) fantastic beaches, boat trips and good shopping with the obligatory bartering for knock off fakes 🤣 We opted for a self catering complex recommended by our friends which was awell maintained, spacious and modern with staff on hand, where nothing was too much trouble.
So, with great weather, value for money Turkey is a definite must visit destination ❤️✈️☀️🇹🇷

🇭🇷Last few from our stay in Dubrovnik before returning home. A beautiful walled city, offering walks of the city walls & Game of Thrones tours. It’s been really hot 🥵 throughout but plenty of opportunities to take boat trips out for swimming, and a great choice of resort hotels outside of the city with easy bus journeys in using a variety of day passes. 🇭🇷 Another fantastic road trip❤️ Michael Bush

🇭🇷 Final days of our Road trip and we’re now back in Croatia, lazy days swimming and visiting the smaller picturesque places of Molunat and Cavtat before we head to Dubrovnik for our last stay. Car rental has been a good way to travel around, scenic mountain roads that are really well maintained and straight forward border crossings throughout.

Third country on our road trip…. Montenegro 🇲🇪
We’ve stayed in the Bay of Kotor a beautiful bay surrounded by pine covered hillsides. This area is really popular with cruise ships visiting for the day, and the old town can feel a little busy in the daytime but in the evening it quietens off and the restaurants come to life.
