There will be simple songs in 3 or 4 part harmony and longer songs taught over several weeks and a tea break. Our Sing the World singing group meets fortnightly in term time on a Monday evening, 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Speen Parish Hall, Newbury, Berkshire. We sing beautiful harmony songs and rounds from around the world, including songs from the African nations, British Isles folk, Maori, American B

lues/Folk, Gospel, spirituals, Native American Indian, Maori, Eastern European and more.. we sing anything with inspiring harmonies, rhythm and soul. Our group is friendly, informal and fun. We learn by ear with words but without written music, however this is occasionally available when needed. We enjoy connecting through music, creating amazing harmonies, learning about the world and events through song, and using the power of song to help us to feel uplifted, inspired, educated, and soothed. You will leave with a head full of tunes. Membership is open to all and we run termly. Payment for the term is preferred but drop ins are available. It would be lovely to have you along. You do not need loads of singing experience to join, just a desire to listen and to learn. Please get in touch for more details. Summer Sing ins
Dates for next term:
17th and 24th April
15th and 22nd May
12th and 19th June

I'm trying a different approach in order to dodge the bank holidays and make space for all the other activities the summer brings. There are two sessions a week apart each month where we will learn a song over the two weeks and also have time for shorter ones to get us singing in harmony in to time :-)

Our Story

We teach songs by ear so no previous musical experience necessary - although experienced singers are welcome! The group meets fortnightly on Monday evenings to learn songs from a wealth of musical traditions, including gospel, eastern European, African, British folk and popular / jazz music. Group leaders belong to the Natural Voice Practitioners Network ( http://www.naturalvoice.net ). We also perform occasionally.
