Unfortunately, this weekend's Artisan Market has been cancelled due to the bad weather we are expecting. But there are still lots of opportunities coming up to find your favourite traders, especially useful as we head towards Christmas! You can find some other upcoming Renartgades event dates in the post below.

🚨CANCELLATION🚨

It is with heavy hearts that we need to cancel the Newbury Artisan Market this weekend, but unfortunately the weather is not our friend.

With gusts forecasted to reach 43mph throughout the market, we have had to take the upsetting but necessary decision to cancel this month.

We have emailed all traders involved with further information.

We hope to see you at our future events so you can shop small in the festive season, and continue to support your favourite local makers, bakers, artists and artisans 💙

Do you know a young person with a great business idea? There’s a new opportunity coming to Newbury that could help them take it to the next level!

The Young Business Showcase is inviting young people across West Berkshire to bring their business ideas to life, build confidence and learn more about starting or developing a business.

Taking place in Newbury Market Place on Saturday 28th November, it’s a chance for budding entrepreneurs to develop new skills and connect with other young people who share an interest in business.

Applications are now open, with free online masterclasses also available to help young people get started, including a "How to Launch Your First Business" webinar tomorrow afternoon (5:30pm, Thursday 22nd October).

New food, new beers and more time to enjoy them!

Rufus Independent Coffee House now staying open later from Thursdays to Saturdays, with 15% off all food and drink after 6pm until the end of the month.

It's a great chance to try their brand new food menu or sample one of their new beers! They'll also be open late on Wednesdays when events are on.

It's also time for the coffee shop's annual Halloween colouring competition! Boris the spider loves bright colours, and if you find him before he scurries down to the cellar for the rest of the year, he'll reward the best colouring with some special prizes.

Children aged 12 and under can pick up a colouring sheet in the shop. Entries close on Friday 30th October.

A 5k and a coffee to kick off your Sunday?

JWS Run Club is back at MiLK & BEAN this Sunday (18th October) for another friendly morning run around Newbury town centre.

Everyone is welcome, whether you're an experienced runner, looking to get more active or simply hoping to find a friendly local running group!

Meet outside Milk and Bean at 8:15am for an 8:30am start, with the route finishing back at the café for a well-deserved coffee afterwards.

The Newbury Michaelmas Fair returns this week!

You can find the annual funfair at Northcroft Leisure Centre from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th October, with four days of rides and family fun lined up. Here are the opening times:

Wednesday: 4pm-11pm (crazy price night, all rides £2)
Thursday: 4pm-9pm
Friday: 4pm-11pm (with a free fireworks display in the evening!)
Saturday: 1pm-10pm

Entry is free, with rides individually priced. Have a great time if you are heading along!

Knowing what to do in an emergency could make all the difference.

Newbury Better Health & Fitneess Centre is inviting the community to learn some potentially life-saving skills at a free CPR workshop on 16th October, as part of the national Restart a Heart campaign.

The hour-long session runs from 2pm-3pm, giving you the chance to practise CPR and learn how to use a defibrillator. It's ideal for anyone learning these skills for the first time, as well as those looking for a refresher.

Around 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in the UK each year (that's more than 80 every day), which highlights just how important these skills can be.

We have some great news to share! Newbury BID has secured a fourth term, after 73% of businesses in Newbury town centre voted yes in our recent ballot.

If you follow Visit Newbury, you’ll know we spend a lot of time celebrating all that’s great about our town - but you may not know that the brand is managed by Newbury BID as part of our work to support and promote the town centre.

A big part of that work is encouraging people into Newbury through events and activities throughout the year. Recent highlights include Krazy Races and the Italian Auto Moto Festival, the Artisan and Antique & Vintage Street Markets, and the annual Christmas Lights Switch On!

There’s much more that goes on behind the scenes too, from helping businesses tackle retail crime to dealing with antisocial behaviour.

All of our projects are funded by local businesses - and we do it all as a small team of three!

The new term will see over £1.6 million of ring-fenced investment put into Newbury town centre over the next 5 years, and we have some very exciting projects in the works.

Last year, communities across the UK lit up the night in mass glow rides as part of CyclingUK’s ‘My ride. Our right’ campaign, which calls for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure for women riding after dark.

We are delighted that Newbury's Glow Ride is is returning this year, as one of only two rides taking place across Berkshire.

The ride has been organised jointly by Newbury Road Club, Newbury Velo and West Berkshire Spokes, and will take place on Thursday 22nd October, starting and finishing in Newbury Market Place following two laps of the town centre.

There’ll be a briefing for riders at around 6:45pm before the ride sets off at 7pm, with refreshments available afterwards.
