There’s nothing quite like the moment students hold their finished EPQ projects - a powerful symbol of their dedication, perseverance and growth.✨

“The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) remains a cornerstone of how we nurture independent learners who are ready to thrive beyond the curriculum. We are immensely proud of everything our students have achieved. Congratulations to all involved.” - Mrs Wright, Head of Projects

Over months of independent study, our Year 12 students have shown outstanding curiosity, resilience and ambition - producing dissertations on complex, thought-provoking topics that go far beyond the classroom.

From academic essays to creative projects - including a stunning, hand-crafted costume for a live RGS production - this year’s work highlights the incredible range of talent and passion our students bring to the EPQ.

Their work reflects not only academic rigour, but also the development of key skills for success at university and beyond: research, critical thinking, independence and self-management.

"A good education makes us better people, open to different views and ideas."

By tradition, the Lord Mayor of Newcastle makes one of their first formal engagements meeting our school community.

Yesterday, we were delighted welcome Councillor Henry Gallagher once again, who will be serving as Lord Mayor of Newcastle City Council for a second consecutive year.

While this is not usually the norm, it is worth remembering that our founder, Thomas Horsley, was Mayor of Newcastle five times!

Following the Lord Mayor's Senior School assembly, he attended a CCF parade and spoke with students from across the school, who greatly appreciated his visit.
