It was stunning at the Beachy Head Lighthouse yesterday. Clear blue skies and fantastically calm seas. It looks like we’re forecast to have exactly the same again for our 13:00 departure tomorrow. Those of you who’ve joined us on a trip to the Seven Sisters will have seen firsthand the destructive power of nature and just how dramatic the erosion of the cliffs is. I spoke to the BBC yesterday to highlight the importance of staying away from the cliff edge and equally, the need to keep clear of the bottom in case the cliff should fall. Will we have a better day than this again this year I wonder…? Another one of those days when I’m going to have to try very hard to justify the use of the word “work” whilst out on the water…! The weather over the next two days is so perfect for boating that we’ve added an extra couple of trips to our schedule. We’ve a rare one hour trip to see the Seven Sisters at 13:30 tomorrow followed by our new 30 minute trip across Seaford Bay and back… Three Zero…! We take safety so very seriously when it comes to any aspect of our business. Therefore, it’s with great pride that following on from three years of training and a rather gruelling seven hour assessment last Wednesday, I have been appointed as a volunteer Coxswain with on the Newhaven Lifeboat. As Coxswain, not only am I responsible for the safety of the crew but also the casualties involved in any rescue the lifeboat attends. It’s been a lifelong ambition to reach this point yet my learning will never stop and my drive to perform at my utmost best, never cease. Day Two… and the launch of our new and exciting 30 minute blast across the bay and back… THREE ZERO…! Aimed at those of you who are looking for the same thrill of the boat yet less of the stopping to chat. Tickets cost £25 for adults and £20 for children… a family of four is reduced to £80 in total. We’re excited to report that plans to expand the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm have been given green light today…! It’ll be incredible to witness the construction close up on our trips out there in the next few years…!

The Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farm will see a further 90 turbines erected near a site of 116 turbines.

An absolutely superb start to our season…! Beautiful blue skies and unbroken sunshine. We had a steady stream of passengers at the South East Boat Show for our free trips on the river. Will was armed with facts about the local area and even I learned a lot about the history of the swing bridge and his favourite sea birds. 😀 We’ll be again tomorrow, offering free trips between 11:00 and 14:00. Why not pop along to say hello and enjoy the Show…?! 👍

Fantastic news…! The Red Arrows are confirmed for the full four days of Airbourne from 14th-17th August…! We’ll have a trip each day to head on around Beachy Head to watch them yet again, from the best seat in the house…! It was great being at the marina today so that we could see the fantastic progress being made with the dredging project and refurbishment of the complex. It’ll mean us having access to the water at all stages of the tide so a lack of water will no longer impact on our schedule this year. 👍

Meteorology. I’ll just park this here as I’m often in awe of what surprises nature can throw at us concerning marine life whilst out and about on the water. However, it’s rare to be surprised by the weather because of its predictability with the modern day forecasts available. However, it’s rare to see such weather phenomena whilst at sea as we’re usually hiding on land at the time. Simply beautiful.
