It’s World Photography Day today! 📸

We’re celebrating with some more fabulous guest photos. This time from SI who spent an “amazing” 12 night trip to Malapascua in the Philippines with her husband earlier this year.

Here’s what they had to say about the diving:

“We were blown away by the diversity of the marine life. The dive sites were rotated to allow variety but we ended up doing five days diving with Thresher Sharks and each dive we saw the sharks, and every encounter was unique.

“We both have different interests; he enjoys the pelagic life and I enjoy the macro… and this location has both! We saw threshers, white tips, Bambo sharks, blue ringed octopus, nudibranchs, sea moths, eagle ray, mandarin fish, seahorsea and so much more. The highlights were the threshers, blue ringed octopus and nudibranchs.”

Did you log your shark and ray sightings?! 🦈🦈🦈

The results are in! 🌍🦈

During the Great Shark Snapshot 2026, more than 330 people across 10 countries recorded an incredible 971 sharks and rays, representing 41 different species.

From Bluespotted Lagoon Rays to Scalloped Hammerheads, every sighting helps us build a clearer picture of where sharks and rays are being seen around the world.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, submitted sightings and helped make every dive count. We couldn’t do it without our brilliant global community of divers, dive centres and partners.

And a special shoutout to our top three recorders:

🥇 Open Ocean, Egypt – 385 records
🥈 Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, Australia – 181 records
🥉 Galapagos Aggressor III, Ecuador – 150 records

Did you capture the solar eclipse 🌙 yesterday? Eclipse fever certainly reached all over the UK. But did you know one of the best places in the world to witness the solar eclipse in 2027 will be Egypt?!

On August 2nd 2027, an almost total solar eclipse will be visible lasting over six minutes in duration! How magical would it be to witness this amazing phenomenon from a liveaboard in the middle of the Red Sea or at the Valley of the Kings?!
