Is the World of Color dessert party worth it? Our honest take: 7/10. 🌈

On our first night at Disneyland we booked the World of Color – ONE dessert party at Disney California Adventure (about $95 each, including tax). Here's what you get:

✅ A reserved viewing spot for World of Color, with no hours of camping out on the pavement
✅ A dessert box and a drink
✅ A souvenir pin (ours was a glitter one ✨)

The show itself is stunning, with fountains, lasers, fire and colour over Paradise Bay. The desserts were nice rather than wow, which is why it's a 7 and not a 10. Honestly, dessert packages are pricey for what you get, so the value comes down to whether you'd rather relax with a reserved spot and inclusions or stay out enjoying the park. You're also at the mercy of the spot Disney gives you: ours had a lighting pylon right in front of the middle of the show.

We're spending today at Shanghai Disneyland (more on that soon!), so here's a throwback to the Halloween Cavalcade on Main Street, Disneyland. Mickey in his Halloween best, Goofy on the fire engine, Chip 'n' Dale in costume, and then the villains: Maleficent, Cruella, the Queen of Hearts and Captain Hook, all out in broad daylight.

Whatever you're up to tonight, we hope it's more treat than trick. 🍬

Radiator Springs goes spooky. 🎃🚗

Cars Land Haul-O-Ween might be our favourite bit of Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure, because the details are so clever: pumpkins made out of tyres, Mater's sign sprouting bat wings, the Cozy Cones turned into jack-o'-lanterns, and glowing oil drums lining the street.

Go in the day for the details, then come back after dark. When the neon comes on it's a completely different place. And if you're at the Oogie Boogie Bash, look out for Vampire Mater (swipe 🧛).

This week we're going back to what Kieran calls "my favourite skyline in the world". Shanghai, we've missed you. 🌃

In March we took what's billed as one of the fastest lifts in the world, 120 floors up, and watched the city go from dusk to neon with a cocktail in hand. Then we went down to street level for the Oriental Pearl Tower up close.

🍸 Cocktails with the Pearl Tower in the window, for less than we'd pay at home
🔮 Down on the ground, the Pearl Tower's spheres change colour through the night
🐎 Year of the Horse lights were still up across the city

This time it's Shanghai, Shanghai Disneyland for Halloween, then Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas to Hong Kong. Follow along.

💡 Tip: sort a VPN-capable eSIM before you land. Instagram and Facebook were pretty much locked down for us last time.
