Isle of Wight Fossil Hunting Trips 'Island Gems' 2 hour Fossil Hunting Trips on the Isle of Wight with experienced guides. We run Multi Award winning fossil hunting trips on the Isle of Wight.

Island Gems Fossil Hunting Trips and Dinosaur Walks was created in 1987 by the 'Fossil Man', Martin Simpson. We run a variety of different trips including public trips, private trips, trips for school parties, trips for birthday parties, speciality trips and we also offer educations talks on fossil, evolution and the Isle of Wight using real fossils as props. We have our booking base in the Island

Gems Shop. You can book with us in person, over the phone or online. For our two hour public fossil trips, our 2025 prices are £7 per adult, £4 per child/senior or £19 for a family ticket which covers two adults and up to two children. Family of five ticket (2 adults and 3 children) £22. Our trips run all year round.

It’s always exciting when someone finds a piece of dinosaur bone on one of our fossil hunting trips.
This lovely fragment was found during one of our recent trips led by our guide James.
To hold a piece of pre-history in your hand, to hold a piece of a long extinct species, to touch part of a dinosaur ... we love it and we love seeing the excitement of the lucky person who found it and gets to take it home with them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on one our fossil hunting trips this Easter, we had a brilliant time and there were lots of wonderful finds. These are our favourites from the many trips we ran….

The first photo is a beautiful dinosaur tail vertebra (possibly theropod) found on one of the trips led by Tegan. The second is a fantastic sea urchin, also found on one of trips led by Tegan. The third and fourth photos are of some great pieces of dinosaur bone found on trips led by James. Well done to all of the finders!!

We are looking forward to our remaining fossil trips and seeing all the as yet undiscovered prehistoric treasurers that you’ll find!

Tonight was Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferry Awards night…

And the results are……

We won the bronze!
The Island breezer bus - won silver
Eddie's surf school - won gold

As I mentioned when asking people to vote, the public vote gets us in the top three and the winner is then chosen by Red Funnel’s panel of judges. Being in the top three is a win for us!

Thank you to everyone who voted for us! It’s means a lot to us. Thank you to Red Funnel for a lovely evening and congratulations to all the other winners!!!
