This time last week, I was in the South of England, near Dartmoor at the 10 year anniversary meet up of the Association of Foragers. This is now one of my firm favourite weekends of the year, an annual pilgrimage to meet with foraging friends old and new. 🌿☘️🍄

It's a long time since I laughed as much. A great group of like minded people.
From camp fire al fresco dining to Michelin star cooking with wild and foraged ingredients.
A big thank you to all who organised and made this happen.

We welcomed a host of international media and influencers on our 'Foraging and Farming Through the Ages Experience'.

Our global visitors were lucky to catch the last barrel of home grown apples being pressed. You haven't lived until you've tasted fresh Armagh apple juice straight from the press.

For the week thats in it, coming close to All Hollows Eve, Samhain, they also heard about our deep ancestral belief in the very thin veil that exists between this world and the other.

I have no doubt this beautiful landscape at Slieve Gullion's foot and her people spoke to our guests in a way to leave a lasting impression.

Great day foraging in the shadow of Slieve Gullion. I was busy baking all day yesterday ...a man of hidden talents 😉😂 wild breads, topped with preserves from other seasons.

Mushroom season has really kicked off 🍄🍀 and it's lovely to share the knowledge and showcase the beautiful place we get to call home, The Ring of Gullion, South Armagh.

It was great to host the Ring Of Gullion AONB youth leaders and their fantastic mentors, Amy and Therese. Passing on our rich heritage to the leaders of the future, helping them understand who we are and where we came from is a good way to help chart a more sustainable future ☘️...one that remembers we are part of this place...

Storm Floris made things interesting on the hills yesterday.

The wind was powerful and the sideways showers on the way up were challenging but well worth the effort.

As I told our visitors how young Setanta earned the name Cú Chulainn on these Slieve Gullion slopes....across the valley in the Cooley mountains modern day GAA heroes from all corners of Ireland followed in his footsteps .
