The Trustees of the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory (SDSO) are delighted to announce that their application to Dumfries & Galloway Council for planning permission to redevelop the former Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre complex has been granted.

This planning permission will allow the Trustees to press ahead with their plans to redevelop and extend the former FLS Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre, near New Galloway, to create an astronomical observatory, planetarium and visitor centre in the heart of the internationally recognised Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park.

Further project updates will be released as they become available.

Busy morning of bookings and enquiries this morning, obviously lots of people planning holidays today 😁 including ourselves hopefully 🤞🏻😅

When we first saw our cottage listed it was advertised as having a sea view, which confused us (and our neighbours 🤣) being so close to the forest park. This is the view from our upstairs window of the tidal estuary between the Irish Sea and the River Cree... what do you think? Does it count? I might add to our descriptions "estate agents sea view" or "Temu sea view" 🤭

We love it all anyway 😊
