**IMPORTANT NOTICE**….
Please accept apologies from Lucy and myself as we have had to set up a gas gun bird scarer to operate from just before dawn and we are aware that this is a considerable noise inconvenience to people in the vicinity of our inby fields, it is with despair and anxiety to us that a sea eagle attacked and killed two lambs early yesterday morning with Ewan just managing to stop another kill taking place in front of his eyes on his early lambing round, we cannot begin to imagine the unimaginable pain, suffering and unparalleled trauma to these lambs went through as they were carried away in the talons of this bird to be eaten alive, we have since learned and understood that a pair of WTSE are presently nesting in Glenshiro with chicks that are just about to hatch, in the days and weeks to come they will be hunting at an even increased level to feed their young, this could potentially be up to 3 lambs per day, we are absolutely distraught at the prospect of scores of our own lambs as well as lambs from other neighbouring farms and crofts in and around Laggan been killed in this way and would respectfully request any support to lobby both NatScott, RSPB and any other elected representatives, perhaps ask the question why is this apex predator species being actively encouraged by these agencies and bodies and rolled out across the country and is there any end point to the multiplication and numbers at the expense of other species such as an iconic golden eagle not to mention the unprecedented welfare impact on domestic livestock in our farms and crofts. In these times of national budgetary constraints that is also very pertinent questions of use of taxpayers money.
Going forward your support will be gratefully appreciated as we do everything possible we can to try and protect the welfare of a young livestock in the short term, thank you for your understanding Ewan and Lucy (Gaskbeg Farm)
