Photos from here just at sunset this afternoon. A lovely snow cloud over the moors with reports on the news of snow falling. We miss most of it here; if the weather is from the east it all falls on the Moors, if it’s from the west it all falls on the Pennines… we’re sheltered here in the Vale of Mowbray so only get it if the weather is from the north. When we moved here in December 2020 our sellers said it’s rare for heavy snow, but Jan/Feb 2021 we got snowed in and ran out of heating oil so we’re now much better at watching for the weather, stocking up on food, and keeping an eye on our oil levels!

My daughter, here for a few days before christmas, helped prep the Byre for our last guests of the year this weekend… and wouldn’t let me rearrange her work! I’d never leave the bed like that, or arrange the bath towels like that! 🤣 But they look great, and it was lovely to have her help.

Yes, it’s spiders. Well, it was… they’ve all gone now, I promise. Sadly (or not) I didn’t get a photo of the huuuge one that had a body about the size of a 10p coin 😳

All ready for tomorrow night’s guests. I haven’t prepped The Byre in the dark in a while, wasn’t it just a week ago we were in 30* heat and late evening sun?! To be fair it’s beautiful here in the autumn with the low mists and clear cool nights.

Quite excited to be testing a new coffee supplier! The coffee roasted a few miles down the road here is delicious but this has been recommended by a friend and it’s from my other half’s home town so we had to give it a try. As always we supply a option along with the full-caf, or non-decaf, whatever it’s called!

Our roses are out in force at the moment so I’ve snipped a couple and put them in The Byre for tonight’s guests. We’ve recently added a corner gazebo-style structure between The Byre and fence to allow the to spread and I may have added a couple of birdfeeders which are already attracting birds! If you stand quietly at The Byre bedroom window you can see the birds up close. The last 2 pictures here are what this corner looked like when we viewed the house compared to now, it’s changed a lot!

Very excited to have changed our brand of loo paper! This is more environmentally friendly, unbleached and less expensive! Trials have so far proven no less efficient!! However it was delivered by who ignored my delivery instructions to leave the delivery in the garage and left the cardboard box filled with loo paper outside, with rain forecast 🤦🏻‍♀️ but, luckily, it didn’t rain. I’ll see how a second delivery goes 🙂
