WHAT. A. NIGHT! 🥂🚢🧡

Wow… we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better night.

7 CABINS GIVEN AWAY! 🎉🚢
Seven pairs of very happy Footsteppers are now joining us for our 20th Birthday Celebration Cruise in May 2027!

The atmosphere tonight was just incredible. So much laughter, some brilliant (and slightly competitive! 😂) games and most importantly, a room full of people who have supported Footsteps and helped us get to where we are today.

A HUGE thank you to our fantastic hosts Stephen and Mary & Dave and Gill you absolutely smashed it and kept everyone entertained from start to finish. 👏

Thank you also the Footsteps team who, as always, worked so hard behind the scenes to make everything come together. 🧡

And the biggest thank you goes to YOU all 120 of you….everyone who bought a ticket, came along, joined in and made the night what it was.

We started Footsteps nearly 20 years ago and nights like tonight make me realise just how special the little community we’ve built really is. I never, ever take your support for granted.

Our photographer Charlie Summer was there capturing the night, so we’ll have lots of professional photos to share with you over the next few days 📸 but for tonight…

🌟 A LOVELY CUSTOMER MOMENT FOR ANDREA 🌟

Andrea had a new client, Beverly pop into the shop yesterday who was really struggling to find a holiday so she could join her friends in Spain. The hotels she needed were showing as unavailable and she thought she might have missed her chance.

But Andrea was up for the challenge! 💪✈️

After a bit of searching (and Andrea refusing to be beaten! 😂) she managed to get Beverly booked into the very same hotel as her friends with easyJet holidays and Beverly booked there and then! 🇪🇸☀️

She was so delighted that she later popped back into the shop with a lovely bottle of rosé for Andrea. 🥂🩷

Anyone who knows Andrea will know just how much she loves travel. Her enthusiasm is definitely infectious and she gets just as excited about finding the right holiday for our customers as they do about going on it!

Thank you so much, Beverly, for such a lovely gesture. We hope you have an absolutely fabulous time in Spain with your friends. ❤️

Sometimes it just takes a little persistence and an independent travel agent who loves a challenge! ✈️

Yes, we’ve been the group caught up in all the publicity surrounding the TUI Danube Eastern Explorer river cruise. If you’ve seen it on the BBC or elsewhere, that’s us.

Sadly, our cruise has officially been cancelled and we’re heading home to the UK this evening.

The one thing I want to say is that TUI have looked after us throughout. Everyone is receiving a full refund, we’ve been accommodated in a lovely hotel in Budapest and we’ve been given a daily allowance for food and drinks while everything has been sorted. The onboard TUI team have been absolutely fantastic, working incredibly hard in very difficult circumstances, and they deserve a huge thank you.

The real challenge has been the heat. It’s been 39°C, and unless you’ve experienced temperatures like that, it’s hard to explain just how exhausting it is.

I’ve had 24 Footsteppers with me, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder of them. They’ve been patient, positive, resilient and have made the very best of what has effectively become an unexpected three-day city break in Budapest. Moments like this are when having a tour manager travelling with the group really comes into its own and I’m so grateful for how they’ve all pulled together.

Of course, there is one question that many of us have asked: if the air conditioning issue was known before we left the UK, why did we travel? I genuinely believe TUI expected the fault to be repaired in time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t, and the decision was ultimately made that the cruise couldn’t go ahead.

Disappointing? Absolutely.

But sometimes travel throws you the unexpected, and it’s how everyone responds that matters. The kindness, patience and good humour of my Footsteppers has made me incredibly proud this week.

We’re now looking forward to getting home, and it’s good to know that Poynter’s Coaches have already confirmed, even at such short notice, they’ll be waiting for us at Birmingham Airport to take everyone safely home.

Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on us over the last few days. Hopefully the next update will be from home… somewhere a little cooler!

The excitement is building here at Footsteps! 👣

We’ve had confirmation from our printers that the first batch of our brand new brochures are ready and will be delivered to the shop tomorrow — just in time for our Coffee Morning Brochure Launch on Wednesday. ☕📖

If you can’t make the coffee mornings this week, but would still like a brochure, they will be available to collect from the shop from Monday 18th May.

Please note, the very first batch has been reserved for customers attending this week’s launch events.

We honestly can’t wait for you all to see the new 68-page brochure… it’s our biggest one yet and we’re incredibly excited about it!
