What an amazing weekend at the Global Bird Fair at Rutland Water last weekend, and even the weather was kind to us this year ☀️

We loved chatting to people about the wonderful birding opportunities in The Gambia

The gardens around compounds (where families live) and hotels in The Gambia can be a magnet for birds and wildlife, especially where there are certain flowers, fruiting trees and of course water.

Generally, they are fairly approachable for photo and video opportunities.

If you've been following the page, you'll have been reading about some of the great reasons to come and visit The Gambia. Well, we aren't done yet :-)

The Gambia is part of a major migratory route for birds moving between Europe and Africa. During October you can witness the arrival of many migratory birds, some which will spend the next 4/5 months in The Gambia. Similarly, at the end of the traditional main tourist season, in February/March you'll see birds returning to their breeding grounds within Europe.

Many birdwatching sites in The Gambia are managed in partnership with local communities, which helps to promote conservation efforts while also providing economic benefits to locals.
