HISTORY MADE ON THE WEST COAST? 🖤

Following up on our incredible encounter just 30 minutes from Oban, we are sharing a short, protected 10-second teaser of our drone footage.

While orcas are known visitors to the Hebrides, we are unaware of any records showing any other pod outwith the West Coast Community not only in these inshore waters, but also hunting common dolphins! To make this sighting even more significant, this pod has a small orca calf with them and you can see them hunting and eating Common Dolphins in the video! 🫍

This footage is invaluable for conservation and identification, and we are working to get this data logged with marine researchers.

UNBELIEVABLE! 🚨 🖤

We are still in absolute shock. In all our years on the water, we have never witnessed anything like this.

Around 4pm we got a message from our head guide Lynsey Bland heading home, who had just spotted a pod of Orca off a Calmac ferry as it was passing Lady Rock.

Just 30 minutes from our departure port near Oban we encountered a pod of 5 orcas. We watched in awe as they hunted common dolphins at incredible speeds, eventually making a successful catch right before our eyes, while continuing the chase. Nature in its rawest, most powerful form. 🫍 💥

We’re absolutely thrilled that our family business was recognised with the Judges’ Choice Award. Moments like this mean so much to our small family-run business, and we are hugely grateful for all the support.

We are super excited to launch our Hebridean Taste Tales, a new initiative celebrating food and drink producers from across the Hebrides and the west coast of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Guests travelling with us will receive a curated selection of products from across the region, accompanied by stories from the producers themselves, bringing a further sense of place to the experience on board.

The first brands involved include Orsay Sea Salt, Nc’nean, Islay Cocoa, Isle of Mull Coffee Roasters, Island Bakery and Slàinte Sauces, with further collaborators to be introduced throughout the season.

Clare Coghill of Café Cùil in Skye is also part of the initiative, whom we are excited to be working alongside.

As a family run business we are delighted to shine a light on the provenance, people and craftsmanship behind some of the west coast’s most distinctive brands 💙
