Exciting News! A gathering of our friends and supporters joined us in Maldon on Saturday to hear our plans for expanding our apprentice training. Heritage Marine Foundation is a small charity set up to provide training to apprentices in maritime heritage skills. Young people come to us to learn wooden and steel boatbuilding, spar making, engineering, traditional rigging, and more. Some of these skills are listed on the endangered list at Heritage Crafts. We have the expertise and enthusiasm to pass these skills on to the next generation of young people, and in turn, to ensure that the skills exist to properly maintain the surviving heritage fleet into the future.
There is demand for our trained apprentices in the industry, and young people come to us asking to learn traditional skills. The time is right for us to grow, and on Saturday we launched an appeal to raise funds in support of the development of our charity, which in turn will lead to further maritime heritage training places being created for young people 🎉🎉
We have a long way to go to raise all that we need to successfully achieve our fundraising target. We are looking for people to help us. raise a significant amount of money.
