AIRBORNE RADAR EVENT
Bawdsey is the site of the world’s first Operational Radar Station. Where the world’s first demonstration of radar took place is less certain but what is undisputed is that Martlesham Heath was the site of the world’s first airborne radar experiments.
To commemorate the events Bawdsey Radar Trust, in conjunction with The Defence Electronics History Society and The Communications and Electronics Museum Trust, will be holding an event at Adastral Park, the home to BT's research and innovation labs at Martlesham Heath on 15 August 2025.
There will be two sessions open to members of the public, including sessions on the early days of radar, the role of the GPO in the development of radar, as well as presentations about the Airborne Radar itself.
