Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are among the best-known peaks in the National Park.

Our Three Peaks walking app contains routes for the classic 24-mile circular as well as individual routes for each peak. The app has been developed with our National Park Rangers who have added points of interest along the way.

The app also includes important safety advice for walking the Three Peaks and the Three Peaks code of conduct, which will help you to stay safe and help respect our local communities πŸ‘‡

The Settle-Carlisle line is one of the UK’s most famous scenic rail routes, taking in 20 viaducts, 14 tunnels and countless beautiful vistas along its 72 mile track.

The journey takes you over the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct, which truly is a sight for sore eyes. Another popular stop for trekkers is Horton-in-Ribblesdale, which gives access to the Three Peaks. More πŸ‘‡

Some Wednesday woodland wellness for you this week...

We are so lucky to be surrounded by thousands of amazing trees across the estate; oak, ash, beech, sycamore and silver birch to name just a few.

Take a read of our most recent journal to learn more about the benefits trees can have on us personally, as well as the landscapes surrounding them and the wildlife that call them home.

On this grey day, allow yourself to sit back and daydream for a moment (it’s a tree-mendous read)!

Do you know your bedding planes from your aeroplanes?

Around 315 million years ago fast flowing, powerful rivers transported silt, sand and pebbles from a huge mountain range down stream. As the silt and sand is deposited, it was compressed and hardened to form a new bedding plane. As each bedding plane was deposited the rocks here at Brimham began to take shape.

Each bedding plane represents a period of time - anywhere from 1000 to 1 million years. Depending on the angle at which they are laid down, they show the direction the river was flowing at that time. In some places at Brimham the bedding planes run diagonally as well as horizontally, showing where huge underwater sand dunes once were.

Come back next Monday to see what happened next... Or join our volunteer guides on a tour to find out even more about Brimham's history - selected Saturdays at 11am and 2pm: https://bit.ly/3POx3GO
