...and day 3 of build. Not all plans are set in stone & due to height of pergola on top of height of decking then a change in plan had to be done...so we now have 2 NEW outdoor spaces!!! 🤩

So guests now have :
🎉 Terraced area at top where the hot tub and some seating is
🎉Decking area with swing egg chairs - these are really good for mental health, relaxation, and calming
🎉Pergola area with pull across roof cover

Work still to be done including painting, planting, lighting etc but it is getting there and will mostly be ready for guests coming in tomorrow! But it is now raining...lots, and there's been some power cuts in the area this afternoon... 🙄

Time for a charity shop upcycling challenge! I've not had time to do anything like this for ages so it was nice to turn the £3 plain white candle holder into a lovely outdoor lantern. Add the £2 smaller heart lantern, now orange, and the free lime green ladder shelf, now painted olive.
Just a bit of time being creative does you the world of good. 😊
2 swing chairs to do next so they're matching...x

Well, it's a wrap! 🎉🎉🎉 Summer 2026 you have been our busiest ever but we have met some AMAZING guests from all over the world, learned how to fix many things, sometimes VERY quickly, (and thank god for emergency friend cleaners), considered buying a 3rd washing machine, had repetitive strain injuries from...IRONING can you believe!
Now we need to do some repairs & maintenance, and of course our NEW decking area development starts this week...phew!!!! 😍 The cottage booking is blocked out for 2 weeks now.

Thankyou to both my kids who have also made this hap-plan....Adam has been fab at IT support and helping guests with our gaming consoles as well as sorting out the gaming barn. Amy Bremner has been brilliant at sorting out linen and towels and helping with organising and cleaning especially when my full time work got busy. 😍 love, Emma xx

This...THIS is the most popular thing in the gaming barn with older kids ever it seems....
I hate it. Plastic falling apart flimsy rubbishy noisy thing. 😂😂😂😂 But for some reason, everyone gravitates to it....why?????

We have pool, snooker, darts, table tennis, air hockey, table football, arcade & retro gaming, Wii, Sega and Atari, giant connect 4, cards and dominoes, fidgets and busy boards, farm and train play sets and activity table...plus the bookable arts and crafts, and the gym...AND the free hot drinks bar and sweets...(toys, games, puzzles in cottage too)...

Answers on a postcard...

Progress!!!

Well, the new decking project has taken steps forward - composite decking finally chosen, ordered and paid for today , aluminium wood effect pergola already here, furniture ordered and existing being checked / renewed, even a swinging egg chair going in - just waiting for new cushions...

AND for the gaming barn, there's a Rayburn going in so that will be a log burner at each end - just need to fit it. 😍

And one of the super friendly young turkeys who think they're a parrot! X
