Did you know that Oxford still runs 5 minutes late? ⏰

It’s not because people are slow—it’s actually a quirky tradition based on Oxford Time, which dates back to the days before clocks were standardized.

Back then, towns set their clocks by the sun, not a national time. Since Oxford is west of London, the sun hit Oxford about 5 minutes later. So, locals lived on their own time—5 minutes behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Even today, Oxford keeps this tradition alive. If you’re ever near Christ Church, you’ll hear the Great Tom bell ringing at 9:05 PM instead of 9:00 PM. That’s because it’s still following Oxford Time!

Just a fun reminder that Oxford likes to do things its own way—even with time!

Oxford Magic Walking Tours, the only tour in the city where real street magic meets Harry Potter film locations, is very excited to share some big news. The company is currently in talks with Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter about a possible collaboration. This could bring a whole new level of magic to Oxford.

Oxford University has been ranked first in the world in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings for Medicine and Computer Science.

Oxford leads in Medicine for the 14th consecutive year and in Computer Science for the 7th.
