CHEAP BIKES

I recently had the misfortune of building a £100 brand-new bike from Argos for a customer. The brake pads were of poor quality and had to be replaced, the cables were frayed from being over tightened, the front brake cable had to be removed and rerouted, the headset was loose, a mudguard was fitted back to front and the gears were not adjusted properly. When finally finished, the bike was rideable, but still terrible.

For the same price, I could have sold them a used Trek with hydraulic disc brakes, that had been fully reconditioned and comes with a 3 month guarantee. The rider experience would be incomparable.

Don't buy cheap bikes from major retailers, they are s**t and will likely end up getting scrapped within a short timeframe. Buy local and independent!
