Hello all! It's been a while since the last post so just a quick update from me.

The current time of year is very quiet, so for the time being I am only running pre-organised private tours. Get in touch to organise a time and hopefully we can be walking round Oxford together very soon!

In the meantime, here's a picture of a glowing University Church from sunnier (and less scaffold-covered) times. Spring is on its way soon(ish)...

Hello everyone.

Unfortunately, with the developing situation, I've had to take the difficult decision to cancel all planned tours before Christmas.

Look out for more Tom's Tours updates after Christmas.

Everyone stay safe and have a Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone.

Just a quick note to say that there will now be no tours today.

WOW guys ๐Ÿ˜ This is the kind of feedback that I live for and the type of high that makes all the work worthwhile.

Reviews are so important so please if anyone has been on a tour and enjoyed it, I'd be eternally grateful if you went and wrote about it on my Google page!

In other news, I've switched around some dates that were on my website. I'll now be in tomorrow (Saturday) but not Sunday, and there will also be no tours next Saturday.

Otherwise, I'll be giving it all I've got until Christmas, so if you're at all interested in coming along on a tour, please do!

On this day in 1120, the White Ship sank off the coast of Normandy - an event which would change the course of English history.

It caused the deaths of many of the most important noblemen in England, including Henry I's sole legitimate son and heir, William Adelin.

This sparked a succession crisis upon Henry's death 15 years later, which resulted in a long and brutal civil war known as the Anarchy and the eventual start of the Plantagenet dynasty.

Read more about the Anarchy and the role Oxford played, in the blog section on my website (link in bio).

Taking a break from tours this week and pressing the refresh button. Looking forward to being back next week.

Here's a ๐Ÿ‘Œ pic I took of Radcliffe Square the other week in the meantime.

Hello everyone!

After over 10 weeks of emails back and forth with Google's "support" team, we finally have a functional business listing up and running! It seems they've finally worked out that I am not the same entity as famous Oxford landmark Tom Tower. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Anyway, if anyone who has given me a review on here or ever been on a tour could either give me a quick rating or literally go and copy and paste what they've already written as a Facebook review, I'd be massively grateful! Every review helps me get further up the search rankings and reach more people. ๐Ÿ™

Today marks the 1020th anniversary of the St Brice's Day Massacre, whereby the pictured King ร†thelred the Unready ordered the slaughter of all the Danes in England.

This call to arms was taken up most enthusiastically in Oxford, where the terrified Danes sought refuge inside St Frithuswith's original monastery.

The locals attacked the monastery and it was burnt to the ground along with the Danes inside. The site is now occupied by Christ Church Cathedral.

Come along on a tour to find out why this event was so important and how we may have recently discovered the remains of the victims!

Thanks to Clare on this morning's tour for pointing out the date!

It's not a bad spot for a game of rugby, but did you know that Merton Field was the site of the first ever flight by an Englishman?

In the year 1784, James Sadler took off from here in a balloon and landed around 6 miles to the north.

Imagine the wonder of the local townspeople upon seeing a man ascend into the skies for the very first time!

Come along on a tour to learn more!

NEW BLOG NOW LIVE

Like coffee and want to know how it first came to England? Interested in knowing more about the history of this old building which now houses ?

If the answer to either of those questions is YES, then go and head to the blog section of my website (in bio) and have a read of my latest blog on all things Oxford.

I attempt to resolve the oldest coffee shop debate, look at a dodgy election, and delve into a botched ex*****on in a jam packed interesting blog (in my own unbiased opinion). Please go and check it out!
