We’ve started 2026 with an amazing tour lead by Barnaby Philips in London.

Barnaby Phillips, author of the widely acclaimed Loot: Britain and the Benin Bronzes, helped lead this two-day tour in London that looked at the history behind the spoils of Empire and the ethical question surrounding their restitution.

We saw the Benin Bronzes, met with museum officials, spoke with diplomats, and met with concerned diaspora communities in London.

We met Santiago in Guanajuato. He is one of the few remaining potters to create all of his goods by hand, which he showed us when we visited him.

Mexico faces a major challenge with its informal economy. An estimated 60% of the workforce work irregular jobs and thus don't pay taxes. That has created a dual need for the government to create a highly-trained workforce and get those people to integrate into the real economy.

Santiago analyzes the situation differently – he thinks that the problem with Mexico's economy is that the younger generation spends too much time on their phones!
