Socorro anyone?
I just love the place, so much so that having been there 4 times already, I want to go back! So I am!
I have a half boat charter on the Valentina liveaboard from 15-24 March '27.
Socorro is quite possibly the best place to go for diving with Oceanic Mantas - they are so curious and easy going, frequently spending long periods of time around divers and they can come really close!
But it's not all about the Manta; schools of Scalloped Hammerhead sharks can be seen on San Benedicto and Socorro islands, Bottlenose Dolphins frequently come up to play with divers, plus regular visitors to the cleaning stations are Galapagos, Silvertip, Dusky and Silky sharks.
I'm keep my fingers crossed for this trip to be able to see Humpback Whales underwater at Roca Partida!

Hands up who wants to play with huuuuge manta at Socorro and get mugged by the kiddy Sea Lions in La Paz!

We are running a guided trip to Baja California in January '26, and have chartered the MV Valentina liveaboard for Socorro.

Red Sea liveaboard 22-29 Nov '25
We've chartered Dune Silky liveaboard and will do the 'Golden Triangle' itinerary of Brothers, Daedalus & Elphinstone.
I have to admit I'm a little fixated on seeing the Oceanic Whitetips, and November is a very good time to see them. And of course it would be good to see the hammers on Daedalus and maybe, a manta or two!
I've discounted the standard rate for Silky from £1,475 to £1,175.
There are 4 spaces left!
Plus, if you want to extend your trip, you can join us for 4 nights in Luxor to be guided around all the amazing Pharaoh history, plus do a sunrise hot air ballon ride on the west bank.
If you are coming from the UK, I can arrange all the flights to/from Hurghada and provide ATOL protection.

Maldives - Day 6
(Didn't do video on day 5, so no film to post)
The last day of our Maldivian adventure! Another sharky day, with the first dive at the Miyaru Kandu channel, then onto the last dive at the Hulumale Harbour.
Viz and light were not the best for the harbour dive, but still plenty of sharks around - and I got to see my first ever Bull shark - oh my word, you can really tell why they are called Bull sharks, a proper solid chunk of a fish!

Thanks to the entire crew on board Dune Black Manta, they did a great job in looking after us, and I can't wait to get back and dive with them again!

Maldives - Day 4
Only did two dives this day, both at Moofushi.
This is a renowned manta cleaning station, which can get quite busy for divers. Fortunately for us, with a bit of cunning scheduling we pretty much had the second dive to ourselves, and saw probably 5-6 manta.
The highlight for me was the most cutest little Eagle Ray, which liked to hang out near the cleaning station (saw her on both dives); maybe she was dreaming of one day mixing it with the big boys and girls at the cleaning station!

Maldives - Day 3
Now this was a good day!
First dive was at 'Fish Head', which as you can see if just above with fish, and it was mesmerising watching the Blue Fin Trevally hunting.
My favourite part of the dive was watching this poor octopus being repeatedly dive bombed by a Redtoothed trigger fish - the trigger fish really had issues with the octopus and I just can't figure out why; not seen this behaviour before....
The Manta night dive at Fesdhoo was a challenge to say the least, with low visibility, but still very cool in seeing the manta feed on plankton attracted to the lights - they come soooo close to you, just moving out of the way at the last second!

Maldives - Day 2
Let the sharky action commence!
The itinerary we followed took us to the central atolls, to the Ari atoll area, which is excellent for sharks and manta.

I would normally include a bit of drone footage in my films, but as predicted, my DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone, sarcastically named 'Submarine no.5', became Submarine no.5... Can only think it was a battery failure as it just cut out on me and was never seen again.... It wasn't a good day....

MSY Seahorse liveaboard - Halmahera to Raja Ampat - 28 Apr to 9 May '25.
Now this looks like a very, very good itinerary on board a very, very good liveaboard - MSY Seahorse...
I've not dived around Halmahera, but everything I hear about the place sounds terrific - 'the new Raja Ampat' - which is some statement. The second half of the itinerary pops down to Misool, which I know first hand is a fantastic place to dive.

Liveaboard price is €5885, plus flights to get to Ternate and return from Sorong, Raja Ampat marine park fee, fuel surcharge.
Plus, after the MSY Seahorse liveaboard, there's an option to go to the Dampier Straits to go and have a play with the manta and wobbegong and see more incredible reef and fish life.
