Is there anything better than toasting marshmallows with your friends? This is the kind of fire pit chat we can definitely get on board with this summer!

S’mores recipe courtesy of James, aged 6.
“First you toast your marshmallow in the fire pit, make sure you’re careful because it’s hot! Then when it’s all toasty SHOVE it between two chocolate digestives. Then eat! They are called s’mores because you always want SOME MORE!”

Some lovely thank you letters and a picture of Town Head created by some of our young half term guests. We’re so pleased they had a lovely time! Think the neighbouring sheep provided some inspiration! 🐑

We hope you are all enjoying the Platinum Jubilee weekend! Our family has participated in many Royal Jubilees over the years, and here are a few of our mementos from those special days. In 1935 Emily from Town Head represented Penrith Grammar School at George V’s Silver Jubilee, taking part in the London parade. It was a huge adventure for 17-year-old Emily. She went on the train from Penrith and met a girl from Kirby Lonsdale School who became a life long friend. Alison was born around the time of the Queen’s coronation in 1953, and all new babies like her were given a silver spoon.

Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy Platinum Jubilee. In our corner of Cumbria villages got new swings and benches to mark the coronation in 1953, although Town Head owner Alison was always convinced the swings in Reagill were to commemorate her birth that same year! And they are still enjoyed by villagers and visitors of all ages today.
