Hi and welcome to our lovely Annex The Wild Boar Barn, we hope your stay (please book haha) is as wonderful as our everyday life is with having the honour of calling this home, we have tried to make this a home from home and really thought of all the little details we have loved when we have stayed at places in the National Park.
Our beautiful home is only 1.7 miles away from the quaint little village Bampton, which has a wonderful pub The Mardale Inn, we have a little corner shop which stocks all your essentials it is only open 9-1 daily at the moment, but Askham stores is only 3.5 miles away and open 8-6 daily, we also have a mechanic and small petrol pump should you need anything.
Our annex offers nothing short of spectacular views across the countryside of the Lake District National Park. This heart-warming retreat is perfect for a family, 2 couples or a couple looking to explore of the grid and away from hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We have lots of places on our doorstep which are only a short drive away or lots of walking routes right out of your front door onto the fellside, we are actually on the hillside of a wainwright Loadpot. We have Haweswater which is only 7.5 miles away (Mardale Head for sat nav) which offers some spectacular walks whether that be up high taking in some Wainwrights or doing a loop of Haweswater itself.
We are 7 miles from the shores of Ullswater which is widely thought of as the most picturesque of the Lakes. Here you can make the most of the wonderful walking or enjoy being out on the water. We are 13 miles from Aira Force Waterfall, 5 miles from Lowther Castle, Askham Outdoor Heated Pool 3.5 miles away, this is just to name a few local points of interest.
The annex itself, is 1 bedroom but we use the snug as a second bedroom, it has 2 bathrooms and 1 shower, 2 smart televisions, big corner sofa, built in top of the range appliances, a fully stocked kitchen for you to cook as you would at home, built in microwave, washing machine and separate dryer, wood burner (basket of wood and kindling included in your stay) breakfast bar with 4 stools, wifi (you wont be able to play xbox games on live but will happily stream netflix, social media, emails that type of thing), hairdryer, superking bed, fresh bed linen and towels, games if we have any rainy lake district days, dog bed and bowls, high chair, travel cot, off road parking for 2 cars.
We do have a hot tub as well this will be charged at a supplement of £20 per night (please let us know at the time of booking)
We do allow 2 dogs to the property, we kindly ask they are crated if they are left (we have a crate should you need it) and that they are to sleep downstairs and not in the bedroom, any damages will be charged. We don’t mind dogs being of lead at the property we just ask that you clean up after them and they have manners around the livestock.
We also have our livestock which is 5 sheep, Thelma, Gracie, Louiza, Raven and Black Widow they are very friendly and will definitely come and say hi especially if you have food, we also have 2 Pygmy Goats Dale and Brennan they are always upto something they shouldn’t be, mainly destroying my rose garden lol, they are not as brave as the sheep but will come and say hi for food. We do have our own dogs which wont be free roaming but you will no doubt see us out walking them. Any gates must be closed behind them with the livestock on the farm and also the livestock of our local farmers in the neighbouring fields.
We have children of our own, so please let your children have fun and enjoy the beautiful Lake District.
We live in the farmhouse next door and are always here should you need anything, please just come and see us.
We require a deposit of £100 at the time of booking
£180 per night
2 night minimum stay
3 night minimum over a bank holiday weekend
48 hours cancellation or you will loose your deposit
4 person occupancy (additional bed can be arranged at £20 per night)
No smoking property, and if smoking outside please dispose of ci******es not on the floor with our livestock
Check in is from 3pm and check out by 11am, late checkout can be arranged subject to next day bookings, we are happy for you to leave your car though should you want to go walking on your check out day.
