The project is now working with communities to “close the loop” on waste plastics, collecting and recycling waste to produce boats and products rooted in indigenous heritage, bringing plastic boatbuilding to the world!

Our Story

Far and Wild Travel was founded in 2017, but has an industry pedigree that goes back nearly 20 years. Find out more about the history, ideas and people that shape what we do – and how we make your holiday experiences “come to life” (that's our strap line by the way).

Our Past

In the early 2000’s I set up and ran one of Britain's leading tailor made tour operators. Commercially speaking we were a successful holiday company. The beneficiaries were our customers and of course our team… as we had a great time doing it. But no one else really.

After leaving that business I had time reflect on whether we’d really done justice to the opportunity provided by customers letting us organize what is usually their most important few weeks in the year. Could a travel company be more meaningful – not just for customers and staff, but for a wider group of people and communities connected to it? I don’t as yet know the answer to that question, but we decided to set up Far and Wild Travel to try.
