Review received from Mark:
We stayed here during the Easter holidays 2017 and had the most amazing family holiday from the moment we arrived until the moment we reluctantly had to leave to head home for the school run and work!
The cottage itself is located down a private track which cant be turned into easily from the road heading from Penzance, however, there is a little lay by about 200m on the left which we found helpful to do a u turn and come back on ourselves ready for the left turn into the entrance.
There is lots of space to park immediately outside the cottage at the bottom of the track.
The cottage is immaculately kept, beautifully spacious with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable break. We dined in lots and found everything we needed in the kitchen, which is open plan with a large table that seats large parties. There is an AGA cooker and a modern, range cooker in there, although we did struggle to work it (user error)!
At the other end of the kitchen there’s a comfortable snug area with a wood burner flanked by two sofas which got plenty of use by us all. There is also a lovely open fire in the front room for those colder evenings (we found this very relaxing and a novelty as we don't have this luxury at home).
The grounds are safe and well kept, with a large lush green lawn and BBQ patio. Our children discovered a whole new world existed outside of city life, wondering for hours exploring the woods and following the river close to the house. Its extremely peaceful and quiet and if you like this as much as we do, then you will just love this place.
Its not far to the local beaches, and the owners have left a really good information folder at the house which lists the best beaches to visit, along with other really useful / relevant information for your stay. We followed just about every recommendation within the folders and weren't disappointed. Porthcurno beach and Godrevy beach are an absolute must see if you stay here as is St Ives, although St Ives does get a little busy with tourists.
There is a traditional Cornish fishing village a couple of minutes drive from the house called Newlyn where there are local pubs and shops for bits and bobs. You can get freshly caught fish in one of the many fishmongers in the town too.
We would really recommend this to other families who just want to get away from it all, relax and let the children run around in this lovely cottage and its grounds. We cant wait to return, we will be back:)
