When you stay in the beautiful apartments at Thirlestane Castle, you have the opportunity to visit the Castle too .. and they have just opened a new School Room Toy Museum within the castle. The historic toy collection at Thirlestane includes some items that belong to the Maitland family but a substantial part of the large collection is kindly on loan from the Pollock's Toy Museum too.

The National Trust for Scotland has issued a statement about their response to COVID-19. Please note the following:

"We’ll be keeping our accessible gardens, country parks and gardens open free of charge, enabling visitors to escape isolation in a safe environment where ‘social distancing’ is easy to maintain. This includes properties like and the landscapes and gardens surrounding and castles and "

Do keep an eye on their own pages and website for an update. The National Trust for Scotland owns & manages some fantastic parts of Scotland including Glencoe and as long as we are being careful, exercise is still recommended to keep us all sane during this crisis.
