We are delighted to share that the historic St James Hotel in Selma, Alabama, is expected to reopen later this month, flying a Marriott flag.

Sitting on the banks of the Alabama River since 1837, the St James is the only riverfront pre Civil War era hotel still standing, and it sits close to the iconic Edmund Pettus Bridge. It has welcomed everyone from Jesse James to Civil War soldiers and leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.

A tentative reopening date of 15 September is being reported, pending final approval from Marriott, and the property is already listed on the Marriott website.

Great news for Selma and for Alabama Tourism.

Our UK media group had an incredible day exploring Muscle Shoals, Alabama!
Experiencing the legendary FAME and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, where so many iconic hits were born, it's clear why this small Alabama town holds such a huge place in music history.
The visit wrapped up with the brilliant "Caution! Stones Ahead" exhibit at the Renaissance Muscle Shoals, celebrating the Rolling Stones' time recording in the area. A real treat for anyone who loves music heritage.
Huge thanks to our hosts for such a memorable day showcasing everything Muscle Shoals has to offer UK travel media.
