The view from Inside the, then, only state owned Railway.. Peterhead Prison Museum .... In 1888, prisoners were carted from here, a few miles down the road, to Stirling Hill Quarry... To dig granite for the construction of the Peterhead Breakwaters & Harbour of Refuge...

Refuse to dig... And the prisoners were shot... It took 70 years to build the breakwaters.. interrupted by 2 world wars... 70 years of Prisoner Labour from Scotlands Toughest Jail...
