🌱 What Is Regenerative Farming — and Why Do We Do It? 🐄
Last week, estate owner John Mildmay-White hosted a farm tour, sharing his vision and approach to regenerative farming. It was an inspiring and educational experience — a chance to see firsthand how we’re working to support biodiversity, care for the land, and build food systems that benefit both the planet and our local community through sustainably raised, locally sourced meat.
Here, we focus on maximum sustainable output: working with nature.
That means:
🐄 100% grass-fed cattle — They’re regularly moved to fresh pasture, which keeps them healthy, reduces stress, and helps regenerate the land. By rotating grazing areas, we give the soil time to recover, encourage stronger root systems, and let biodiversity flourish — all while raising happy, healthy animals in a natural way.
🌾 Enriching the soil with a mix of grasses, herbs & deep-rooted plants (they even like dock leaves)
🐝 Welcoming biodiversity: We have seen lots of crickets, skylarks, bees & wildflowers appear.
♻️ Minimal Inputs — Just Sunshine & Rain, Letting Nature Do the Work - We rely on the power of natural processes, no synthetic fertilizers or chemicals. Just sunlight, rain, and healthy soil working together to grow nutrient-rich fields.
👣 Less tractor time, less compaction, more resilience
Here we are building a closed-loop system on the Estate: nothing in but sunlight and rain, and nothing out but nutritious, ethical beef.
Regenerative farming isn’t just better for cows — it’s better for all of us.
